Skrillex “The Cell”
The Challenge
Create a visually immersive, real-time interactive experience for Skrillex’s live performances, using 3D avatars that could move with him in real time.
The Solution
Under the creative direction of David Navarro, I developed fully rigged Unreal Engine avatars with custom materials and look development. I integrated Xsens motion capture technology to live-stream Skrillex’s movements into the avatars during performances. Eight unique avatars were designed and projected onto a 15′ x 30′ interactive structure, “The Skrillex Cell,” blending real-time animation with large-scale 3D projection mapping.
The Impact
The real-time avatar projection captivated audiences by adding a dynamic, living element to the show. My work, combined with Production Club and V Squared Labs’ environmental design, helped transform Skrillex’s performance into an unforgettable multi-sensory experience — pushing the boundaries of what live entertainment could be.
