EDC — Rear Projection Vignettes with Unreal Engine
The Brief
Electric Daisy Carnival needed vibrant, immersive media environments to elevate an experiential installation at its flagship Las Vegas festival quickly. The goal was to create a series of captivating projection-based vignettes that could withstand EDC’s massive scale and energy.
The Challenge
With a short turnaround and a high bar for visual quality, the challenge was to create multiple custom projection environments that felt dynamic, otherworldly, and aligned with the immersive spirit of EDC — all within an aggressive delivery timeline.
The Solution
In collaboration with 11th Dimensions, I designed and delivered a series of rear-projection video vignettes built entirely in Unreal Engine 5. Using Unreal Marketplace and Quixel Bridge assets, I crafted stylized 3D environments that blended light, space, and mood to create fully enveloping digital scenes.
Working end-to-end — from look dev to final renders — I took advantage of UE5’s real-time rendering capabilities to meet tight deadlines without compromising visual impact.
The Impact
The installation was a hit with audiences and a seamless visual extension of EDC’s electric energy. The real-time pipeline enabled fast iteration and stunning results under pressure — a successful creative-technical solution for one of the world’s biggest electronic music festivals.
