Breakthrough Prize — Live Broadcast Ceremony
Overview:
Known as the “Oscars of Science,” the Breakthrough Prize honors major achievements in life sciences, physics, and mathematics. The goal: design sophisticated LED visuals that matched the event’s intellectual prestige and cinematic atmosphere for a globally broadcast audience.
What I Did:
-
Led design and animation of stage visuals from 2015 to 2020
-
Created custom 2D/3D sequences for each award category
-
Mapped content to large-scale LED displays, tailored to camera framing and live cueing
-
Integrated visuals with lighting and spatial design to elevate the show’s flow and tone
Tools Used:
Cinema 4D · Redshift · Octane Render
Results:
The visuals became a signature part of the Breakthrough Prize identity — blending scientific storytelling with visual elegance. Broadcast live on National Geographic in 2020, the event reached a global audience and set a new bar for how science can be celebrated through design. My work helped transform complex ideas into immersive, cinematic moments that celebrated discovery on a grand scale.
