“Feel The Light” American Idol
The Brief
Jennifer Lopez’s team approached us to create a visually unforgettable performance for her ballad “Feel The Light” on American Idol — one that merged fashion, emotion, and cutting-edge visual effects into a single cinematic moment.
The Challenge
Design and deliver fully mapped visuals that could transform a flowing white gown into a living projection surface — enhancing the performance with real-time visual storytelling across a massive stage and national television broadcast.
The Solution
I led the creative and technical execution of the video content, directing a team to deliver a mix of motion design, 2D/3D animation, video editing, and VFX. Every pixel of the 1.17 million-resolution display was precisely projection-mapped to Jennifer Lopez’s custom gown, creating the illusion that she was floating through space. The content was timed and animated to enhance the emotional tone of her performance — a seamless integration of light, movement, and storytelling.
In addition to the live American Idol broadcast, my video content designs were featured in the official music video for “Feel the Light,” promoting the DreamWorks animated film Home. This video extended the visuals across global digital and broadcast platforms.
The Impact
The American Idol performance became an iconic pop culture moment — celebrated for its groundbreaking blend of fashion, live performance, and immersive visual technology. The audience was captivated as Lopez’s gown became a canvas for cosmic projection. With the visuals also showcased in the Feel the Light music video, the work reached millions of fans across broadcast and online, marking a high point in the fusion of fashion-tech and entertainment storytelling.
