NewJeans — Billboard Women in Music Visuals
The Brief
K-pop phenomenon NewJeans was set to perform “Super Shy” and “ETA” at Billboard Women in Music, a celebration of bold voices and genre-defining talent. My task was to pitch and design a custom stage visual system that reflected the group’s energy, charm, and on-trend aesthetic across LED stage screens.
The Challenge
Deliver visuals that match the distinct tone of each track—from dreamy crush-pop to silky, rhythmic grooves—while staying on brand with NewJeans’ visual identity and Billboard’s elevated stage presentation.
The Solution
I pitched and designed vibrant LED screen content featuring pastel palettes, stylized skies, neon outlines, playful bubbles, Mylar balloon rotations, and falling glitter — visual cues that matched each song’s energy and emotional texture. “Super Shy” leaned light, bubbly, and bright, while “ETA” incorporated groove-driven transitions and animated layers to suggest anticipation and atmosphere.
Using Cinema 4D and Redshift, I handled 3D modeling, lighting, and rendering — crafting animated backdrops and looping visual elements that flowed naturally with camera movement and choreography. I then composited and finalized the content in After Effects, ensuring everything was stage-ready and timed to the music.
The Impact
The result was a lively, high-energy performance that perfectly matched NewJeans’ rising star status. The visuals added charm and momentum to both songs — enhancing the choreography and adding visual personality without overpowering the performance. It seamlessly fused design, pop sensibility, and stage production.
