Jack Ü — Grammy Awards Performance Visuals
Overview:
For the 2016 GRAMMY Awards, DF Productions brought me on to design projection and LED screen content for Jack Ü’s performance of “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber, Skrillex, and Diplo. The goal: deliver bold, high-impact visuals that match the raw, genre-blending energy of the live set.
What I Did:
-
Created custom screen content featuring glitch textures, kinetic type, and distorted animation
-
LED-mapped visuals to dynamic stage surfaces in an in-the-round broadcast setup
-
Integrated animation cues with lighting and camera blocking for national live broadcast
-
Collaborated closely with DF Productions and artists’ creative teams to hit the visual tone
Tools Used:
After Effects · Photoshop · Cinema 4D
Results:
The performance became one of the most talked-about moments of the night — visually chaotic in the best way. The animated content elevated the set into a charged, cross-genre spectacle, merging EDM and rock visuals with Bieber’s live performance. This project marked part of a six-year collaboration with DF Productions on GRAMMY visuals, contributing to the look of the show’s biggest performances.
