Jack Ü — Grammy Awards Performance Visuals
The Brief
For the 2016 GRAMMY Awards, DF Productions tapped me to design video projection and LED screen content for Jack Ü’s “Where Are Ü Now” performance featuring Justin Bieber, Skrillex, and Diplo. The goal is to amplify the energy of this genre-blending performance with high-impact visuals that match the raw, live-wire vibe of the show.
The Challenge
Transform an EDM megahit into a visually explosive rock-style performance while meeting three global artists’ creative direction—and delivering flawless visuals on national broadcast, in-the-round staging, and LED surfaces.
The Solution
Working from the creative brief, I developed custom screen content and projection visuals that embraced distortion, glitch, and kinetic typography — echoing the song’s sonic texture. The content was LED-mapped to dynamic stage surfaces and seamlessly integrated with the live lighting and camera direction.
This performance was part of a broader collaboration with DF Productions. Over six consecutive years, I contributed visuals to multiple GRAMMY performances, helping shape the visual language of the show’s most significant moments.
The Impact
The performance was one of the night’s most talked-about, known for its electric energy and bold visuals. My contribution helped turn Jack Ü’s set into a visually-charged highlight of the broadcast, merging live action with animated chaos to amplify both the music and the moment.
